PATIENT HISTORY and Referrals

PATIENT HISTORIES – Referrals

We are no longer taking veterinary appointments as of 30th September, 2024.

Clients are encouraged to call the surgery to discuss transfer of patient records and nurses are available for this between 9am-2pm most days.

Our nursing staff have a high volume of patients to transfer records for – please be patient, and let us know if you have an upcoming appointment with another local vet! We will be as fast as we can to get them your patient records and make the change as smooth as possible. Please let us know if you would like them sent to yourself, or straight to another vet of your choice.

If you are having trouble choosing, ask our nurses! We have a good relationship with several vets in the area and can help with a recommendation if it seems daunting to pick yourself.

Ultimately, you need to trust who you are with – most surgeries are okay with you popping in to say hi, but call first to avoid hitting nurses in a busy crush of appointments!

Frequently Asked Questions

We are always happy to answer questions over the phone. Please give us a call on (07) 3814 4888 if you need any advice or health care help.

My pet is on long-term medication, will a new vet be able to dispense this?

Yes, of course! Each clinic may have their own requirements for dispensing prescription medications, and you may be given a different brand of the same medication, but most surgeries will have the same medications across the industry. Call well in advance to make sure you don’t get caught short.

Why do I need a consult before I get my medications?

It is a legal requirement for Veterinary professionals to have a “bona fide relationship” with any patient they are dispensing medication for – this means we have to see your pet in person, and record your details in our system so we can take a legal responsibility for your pets medical treatment. It’s the same as with doctors – prescription medication can do harm if used incorrectly, so regular check-ins and testing are required – and always a consult for first-time patients.
